Multimillion-dollar home in NSW is built into the side of a mountain for ultimate privacy.

For the ultimate in peace and quiet, you can't go past an underground home.

The four-bedroom, two-bathroom property for sale at 829 Upper Colo Road in Central Colo has been cleverly built into the side of a mountain, making it a "secluded hideaway".

Designed in 1998, the property uses the Terra Dome building system. This is where concrete is poured at the site location to create a structure and reinforced with steel.

The home for sale is so rare that it's the only one for sale in Australia and one of only two in New South Wales.

Lead agent Robbie Dunn of Belle Property Hawkesbury tells Nine they are seeking offers "in the early $3 millions". The property is on the books of Dunn and Anita Zeppenfeld of Belle Property Hawkesbury in conjunction with George Ayoub of First Choice Realty.

Terra Dome properties are considered adaptable as they allow for freedom of design and can be built into a number of configurations.

The surrounding earth is used as insulation and they generally have domed ceilings. They are also said to be energy efficient.

Dunn tells Nine that despite having only just listed the property, the response so far on social media has been "fantastic" due to its unique design. He also reveals the vendor is planning on returning to the city after enjoying a tranquil lifestyle at the property.

Built into the side of a mountain, the home effortlessly blends in with its environment.

The multiple indoor living zones and outdoor terrace with fire pit offer idyllic views of the Colo River Valley and adjoining Wollemi National Park.

Interiors are light-filled with pops of pastel colour and the statement pendant lights add a touch of glamour.
