'It's vile': Mother-in-law can't contain horror over bride's sheer wedding dress on Say Yes To The Dress: Lancashire

Mel arrived to see bridal expert Gok Wan with one thing in mind – to find the "sexiest dress ever".

After all, it's her big day and she has every right to feel amazing. But there's one thing holding her back, and that's her mother-in-law who was left absolutely horrified.

In a recent episode of Say Yes To The Dress: Lancashire, which you can watch for free on 9Now, Mel was hunting for the right dress to celebrate her newfound confidence.

"That means, the more flesh on show, the better," she told cameras.

Along for the ride were Mel's two best friends and her mother-in-law who believes "less is more".

Stepping into the fitting, the bride's entourage was very nervous.

Her best friend Leanne expressed her hesitations. "Super sexy is not the way forward for a wedding," she said.

The alarm bells went off after bride Mel went over her dream dress checklist: "Lower back, lower front, skin tight..."

"That's a thong," joked Gok.

Mel later expressed that she paid a lot for her tattoos, and the confidence that came with them. So she wanted to show them off in the most stunning way possible.

After trying on a first modest dress, it was time for the big reveal – a sexy, see-through lace number.

"Even for me, that's very, very revealing," admitted Gok.

But Mel fell in love the moment she tried the dress on.

"I'm looking in the mirror and I'm proud to feel confident enough to wear something like this," she said.

"This is my story dress," she added.

"This next dress is going to send the entourage into a meltdown," Gok told cameras.

With a brave face, Mel walked into the room where she'd soon face the honest truth from her friends.

Her mother-in-law's jaw completely dropped.

"I've got a lot of respect for you, Mel, and I know you've come along way. But that is definitely a no," she said.

"It's not you darling, and it's making me quite ill. I really don't like it, It's vile," she added.

Her best friend Leanne wasn't a fan either.

"Sorry I love you, I do, but I don't like anything about it," she admitted.

Gok offered some words of wisdom. "Sexy can still be very covered up," he suggested.

But the bride still had her heart set on the delicate dress.
