Are you Team Stefan, or Team Damon?
A love triangle between two supernaturals and a human isn't an original concept (hellooooo Twilight) but needless to say, The Vampire Diaries had people hooked from the second it premiered in 2009. Maybe it was because these vampires didn't… um… sparkle?
Watch every episode of The Vampire Diaries on 9Now.
The show ran for eight wild and wonderful seasons, and people loved it so much that two spin-off series were created – The Originals and Legacies. The cast was filled with beautiful young things, but where are they all now?

The fearless and fashionable Rebecca Mikaelson, who after a thousand years, would always be by her brothers' side.
Rebekah is the second daughter of the Original vampire family, with a burning desire to live a human life.
She's played by Aussie actress Claire Holt who, according to fans, is adorably living out Rebekah's dream life...
In November 2023, Claire Holt welcomed her third child with husband Andrew Joblon.
The star took to Instagram this week to announce the wonderful news.
"🤍 Ford Joblon 🤍," Claire captioned the photo on the left, holding her newborn bub, with husband Andrew.
Fans and co-stars flooded the post with congratulatory messages.
"Ford!!!!!❤️❤️," wrote co-star Phoebe Tonkin (who played wolf Hayley in the series).
"Woot!!!! Welcome Ford!!," commented actress Amanda Seyfried.
"Claire made all of Rebekah's dreams come true ❤️," wrote one follower, while another said: "Congratulations Claire, for making every dream Rebekah wanted come true!🤍🥺."
The fans are of course talking about Rebekah's dreams to get married and have children – keep scrolling to see Claire's cute little family IRL!
Now a family of five, Claire and Andrew are also parents to young Elle and James.
Loath him or love him, Niklaus Mikaelson was the original bad boy and villain of the Vampire Diaries series – quite literally, as he's from the Original family!
The fearless hybrid was first mentioned in the second season, and caused havoc and heartache ever since.
If you've been missing a bit of Klaus in your life recently, Joseph Morgan, who played the iconic character, gave fans just the treat...
Teaming up with his wife, singer Persia White, the actor channelled his inner bad-boy vampire for her new music video which premiered this week.
Brooding through New Orleans' famous Lafayette Cemetery, fans were quick to recognise the mystical location from the series.
"There's a vibe here that you guys understand because you're a part of the family," wrote Joseph alongside the music video which he shared to Instagram. "Thank you for that 🖤."
His Vampire Diaries fam definitely go the message.
"Klaus is back🖤," commented one follower, while another said: "Your clothes, the cemetery, mikaelson's family symbol, NOLA itself… Chills!"
Titled 'NOLA', the song is a rockin' tribute to the vibrant, neon, music-filled night scene of New Orleans.
And yep, you bet there's vampire references in the lyrics!
Earnest, brooding 'vegetarian' vampire Stefan. Elena's first Salvatore love…
Wesley was so good at playing good guy Stefan, the antidote to his bad guy big brother Damon.
He didn't get to flex his comedy skills much, because Stefan loved to self-flagellate and brood in dark corners (but we loved him anyway).
However, when Stefan flipped his humanity switch, we could really see how much fun Wesley was having in his role.
In October 2023, Paul and his model girlfriend Natalie Kuckenburg celebrated their one-year anniversary.
"One year since you asked me to be your girlfriend on this beach..." Natalie wrote.
"...and I almost didn't say anything because I wasn't sure what you meant! Love you @paulwesley".
The couple often stay quiet private about their relationship, which began following Wesley's split from ex-wife Ines de Ramon.
The former couple had announced their separation in September 2022, telling People: "The decision to separate is mutual and occurred five months ago. They request privacy at this time."
Wesley also remains good friends with his old TVD castmates, too.
He and Nina Dobrev met up for a puppy playdate, and he has joined forces with on-screen big bro Ian Somerhalder to create an alcohol line. Scroll for more!
Beyond acting, after his Stefan Salvatore days Wesley added a wealth of directing and producing credits to his name.
He has directed episodes of Shadowhunters, Roswell, New Mexico, and Legacies, another TVD spin-off.
Acting-wise, he recently starred in Tell Me A Story, a series created by Kevin Williamson (one of the creatives behind TVD), a dark take on classic fairy tales.
Dr. Meredith Fell was a mysterious character who appeared in Season 3 and 4 of The Vampire Dairies.
A doctor at Mystic Falls Hospital, she became intrigued by Alaric's fast recovery and knew a little too much about the healing properties of vampire blood.
While she was fond of Alaric during the series, in real life she's snapped up someone else...
In September 2023, Torrey announced she was engaged to her partner filmmaker and director Jared LaPine!
"Earlier this month at 5pm on a weekday while walking the back trails at the farm, still in my PJs and goat boots, he got down on one knee, in what I hoped wasn't poison ivy, and asked for forever," she captioned the adorable photos.
"My answer was obvious. ❤️🔒."
Friends and co-stars were quick to congratulate the star.
"Ahhhhh TOR!!!! 😍😍😍," commented actress Brittany Snow.
"Oh man, Torrey! I'm so happy for you!," wrote another friend. While co-star Arielle Kebbel (who played Lexi in the series) left three red hearts: "❤️❤️❤️".
According to US Weekly, the couple met through Torrey's cousin and have been dating for around six months.
Congratulations to the happy couple!
Oooh, Damon. The bloodthirsty bad boy we all loved to hate!
With his piercing blue eyes and well-fitting leather jackets, Somerhalder worked his way into hearts everywhere as he chipped away at Damon's tough exterior, making us all question whether he, in fact, was the right one for Elena Gilbert.
Since his dashing Damon days, Somerhalder has been busy - and he didn't leave the vampire world too far behind.
But this time, instead of playing a vampire, Somerhalder took on the role of vampire research doctor Luther Swann on V Wars (which he also produced).
During TVD, Somerhalder dated co-star Nina Dobrev (Elena) for a time, but after they split in 2013, he swapped vampire franchises and married Nikki Reed (from Twilight!) in 2015.
The couple share two children together.
In 2021, Somerhalder & Wesley created Brother's Bond Distilling Co.
"Our friendship's true bond strengthened while drinking bourbon, both on and off-screen for over a decade. Brother's Bond is a nod to our on-screen characters, our shared love for great bourbon, and a reflection of the brotherhood we have formed over the years," it says on the website, signed by both of them.
The former co-stars regularly promote their product on their social media and recently Ian took to Instagram on the 14 year anniversary of The Vampire Diaries premiere.
"Today September 10, 2009, 14 years ago – The Vampire Diaries hit the airwaves for the 1st time. Thank you all for this incredible 14 year journey! We will always be infinitely grateful to you for giving us the wind beneath our wings to build @brothersbondbourbon," Ian wrote.
One fan wrote: "14 years ago you changed my life... and for 14 years I have loved you immensely... may everything in your life be a success."
Ah, Elena. The leading lady of Mystic Falls and the love interest smack bang in the middle of the triangle.
Dobrev brought a serenity to the character of Elena, but she also got to play the mischievous, conniving Katherine Pierce, Elena's doppelganger.
Dobrev left the show at the end of Season Six.
Dobrev moved away from TV land and into the world of movies after her departure from TVD.
She starred in the remake of Flatliners with Elliot Page, as well as Crash Pad, Lucky Day, Then Came You, The Out-Laws, and the Christmas flick Love Hard.
She also had a role in the TV show Fam, which has since been cancelled.
Dobrev will soon be making her debut as a producer on the film Sick Girl (which she's also starring in, being released in October this year).
She has also launched a range of low-calorie wines with Julianne Hough, called Fresh Vine Wine. AND she's dating Olympic Gold medallist Shaun White. Busy lady!
Give us a C. Give us an A. Give us an R… you get the picture.
Of course, we're talking about Caroline, the perfectionist cheerleader who (spoiler) becomes a vampire.
King, then Accola, brought an optimistic sunshine to Mystic Falls with her bright sunshine and golden locks.
Candice couldn't stay away from Caroline Forbes for long – she reprised her role as a recurring character in TVD spin-off The Originals, and also returned in the series finale of Legacies.
She then appeared in films like Splitting The Bill, After We Collided, Christmas In Tune, and Suitcase Killer: The Melanie McGuire Story.
