Penn is also the stepdad of Cassius, Domino's son from a previous relationship.
Dan was recently reunited with on-screen Gossip Girl sis Taylor Momsen for an episode on his podcast series, Podcrushed.
In a post on Instagram, Dan said "She's thriving, and refining her lifelong craft as a musician. I'm so happy for you, Taylor."
During the interview Taylor explained why she decided to leave the show in Season 4 to pursue her band, The Pretty Reckless.
"As soon as I got to an age where I could make my own decision, it was like a click," she explained.
"I don't know exactly what happened. But it's like I woke up one morning and went, 'Wait a second. I don't have to do this... other job. I can just play in my band, and I can tour and write songs.'"
She said she "uprooted and changed my life overnight," with the help of the Gossip Girl team.
"They really allowed me to follow my dream, and I'm forever grateful and thankful to them for that," she said.
Blake Lively (right, pictured with co-star Leighton Meester) played Serena van der Woodsen in Gossip Girl.
