Olympic legend Ian Thorpe's Woollahra home gets passed in at auction with negotiations now underway
Legendary Olympic swimmer Ian Thorpe's Sydney home got passed in at auction.
The five-time gold medallist's Woollahra residence went under the hammer on September 16 with a price guide of $3.7 million.
Agent Courtney Wong of Black Diamondz Property Concierge tells Nine the property passed in at $3.9 million. At the time of publication negotiations were underway.
Thorpe bought the residence at 6/89 Ocean Street in 2017 for $2.75 million, records show, and is now looking to downsize in the blue-chip suburb.
The four-bedroom, three-bathroom luxury home is considered the best residence in the boutique security complex of six, given it is located at the back of the building, completely secluded from the main street.

The 216-square-metre home is spread across three levels with a bathroom on each one and prized double parking.
The third bedroom is on the top floor where it can be used as a second living space with another balcony, while the fourth bedroom can be used as a home office.

The solid brick building sits behind a 1860s mansion façade that was transformed into six homes in the 1980s. The home has modern features such as ducted air conditioning and a heated pool and spa.

The property is a short walk to Queen Street village, Edgecliff Station, local restaurants and Trumper Park.
Wong told The Sydney Morning Herald during the property's campaign that it was the perfect home for professional couples and families with older children.
"It's the best one in the building. It's right at the back, and you don't get any noise from the street," Wong said. "It's completely private and secluded. For people who can't afford a house, it is a stepping stone."
Wong said Thorpe wants to downsize in Woollahra.
